The famous Whitsundays area is located on the Queensland coast and includes 74 sun-drenched islands in the heart of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef, in a part of the world that offers breathtaking and unspoiled beauty. The Whitsunday Islands’ colourful coral reefs, crystal clear waters, fabulous scenery and endless blue skies are what make the Whitsundays the world’s greatest aquatic playground. Very few of the islands are occupied – famous resort islands in the group include Hamilton, Hayman, Daydream and Long Island.
Magnificent boating and chartered trips to the Great Barrier Reef start from Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. SHUTE HOUSE is 10 minutes’ drive from Airlie Beach, where food requirements, shopping, cafes, restaurants, Barrier Reef trips and other tourist activities are available. Airlie Beach is also surrounded by attractive park and bushland  with a number of walking trails. SHUTE HOUSE is within walking distance from Shute Harbour where ferries leave for the islands and yacht charters begin.
Just south of Airlie Beach on the southern tip of the small peninsula is the Conway National Park, which is made up of thick rainforest, and is home to the magnificent Cedar Creek Falls. There are a number of good walking trails through the park, with magnificent views out to the ocean. The Conway National Park covers 22,500ha of land between Mackay and Bowen. It incorporates 35kms of coastline and covers a large peninsula, which is made up of the Conway Range. The National Park surrounds the Whitsunday Passage, and offers great views out across the Whitsundays.
There are two commercial airports within 45 minutes of SHUTE HOUSE (Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Coast) and there is a world class golf course at Laguna Quays nearby.
In excess of $1 billion in development programmes are currently being undertaken in the area, including the Port of Airlie project. Property prices continue to grow at a rate exceeding the norm within Australia.
